Footprints Toward Faith Part 1

I asked the music team to bring us Lord I Lift Your Name on High today as special music, because it’s so much a part of what I want to talk about today.

One day two men were out walking, and one of the men was having a hard time.  One fellow expressed his doubt about the goodness of God. He said, “I do not know what I shall do with all this worry and trouble.”

The other man saw a cow looking over a stone wall. “Do you know why that cow is looking over the wall?” he asked his friend.

“No,” said the man who was worried.

“Well, the cow is looking over the wall because she cannot see through it. That is what you must do with your wall of trouble—look over it and avoid it.”

Faith enables us to look past our circumstances and focus on Christ.

We don’t know who the first man was, but the second man was John Wesley, one of the founders of the Methodist Church.  In addition to looking at Paul’s writing to Timothy, we’re going to talk about John Wesley today.
